Vern Calvin Pettis Sr. passed away surrounded by his family at his home in Satsop, Washington, on Sunday, May 11, 2014.
Vern was born on September 9, 1939, to Lewis Earl Sr. and Laura Ellen Pettis.
As a young man, Vern worked for the railroad. He enjoyed old cars and antiques and he became the owner of South Side Metal in the 1980s. He also loved to play the guitar with his friends and family.
Vern loved to travel throughout his life and he enjoyed many trips to the beaches and antique shops. Vern was the father of 8, grandfather of 28 great grandfather of 20 and uncle to many beloved nieces and nephews.
Vern is survived by his partner Freda Grannis; daughter Trish and husband Tim; son Jason and wife Brenda; son Clint and wife Amy; son Josh; son Jake and wife Joy; siblings Elsie and Peggy and his two beloved dogs Rocky and Sparky. Vern joined in heaven his sons Vernie, Jerry and Earl; and his siblings John, Nate, Shirley, Evelyn, Lois and Carol.
A celebration of life service will be held on Saturday, May 24 at 11:30 AM. It will take place at Apostolic Wells of Living Water Church located at 20 Matthews Rd. in Satsop, Washington. Vern will be dearly missed but never forgotten.
