Concerning the elk that were hit on the highway in East County, people need to be more alert and elk signs need to be put up.
I can understand them being hit by people and having to be put down. But since they were in good condition for meat to be used why weren’t they taken care of and taken to the homeless shelters in the county?
When I was in Alaska and a moose was hit and people were on a list for low income, they were called to see if they had a way to pick up the moose. If they had a way to take care of it, it was given to them. This way it went to good use for people who needed it.
