I think I see a way past this county prosecutor’s office mess. The Democrats want Katie Svoboda, a good Democrat. Some other folks want Mike Spencer, who they think isn’t as good a Democrat. The county commissioners, who are supposed to fill the vacancy by appointment, don’t know who they want so they picked Vini Samuel, who doesn’t want them, or the job. It’s quite the muddle.
Call me crazy, but why not John Erak for that appointment?
True, he passed away in June, but he was a good Democrat. And his passing didn’t keep the good citizens of Aberdeen’s Fifth Ward from electing him to the city council. The more I think about, he’d be a better candidate for county coroner — except for the obvious conflict of interest.
