In reference to the Jan. 21 opinion piece by Beth Devaul on the supposed manipulation by Democrats of the process of filling a vacancy, one wonders what she is talking about. She surely doesn’t know. Her description of how Republicans work the process of filling appointments is exactly what the Democrats did in their selection process. Of four candidates up for the position of County Prosecutor, the Democratic Party PCOs selected the three they believed would “serve the (county) well.” However, they chose Katie Svoboda as the “right choice for the number one spot.”

I understand this is merely political posturing on her part, but since Ms. Devaul wasn’t at the Democratic Party meetings how would she have any idea about what actually happened?
