Veterans deserve more

A recent statement made by a Vietnam veteran brought me to tears.

He said that suicide rates among our retired warriors are drastically on the rise. Many feel that their pain, suffering and sacrifice is futile, when all of the territory they fought for, and some died for, is being handed back to the enemy.

And this nation doesn’t care!

Dick Clever in his letter to the editor in the Seattle Times said that our elected officials are willing to finance two wars with borrowed dollars. Yet they stubbornly refuse to provide much needed benefits, so deserved by our brave soldiers!

As a very grateful American citizen, I say to these brave men and women, “Thank you! Well done! Welcome home!”
