VFW thanks IGA

North Beach VFW Post 8956 members would like to thank Vince Ianniciello, manager of the local IGA and an amazing Ocean Shores community support person, for allowing us to display our Poppies. Because of the wonderful generosity of IGA and our community, we had a very successful Veterans Day fundraiser.

The VFW conducted its first poppy distribution before Memorial Day in 1922, becoming the first veterans’ organization to organize a nationwide distribution. Disabled Vets are paid to assemble the poppies. Local VFW Posts then purchase the poppies and then 100 percent of the donations received from the Buddy Poppy program are used to provide direct relief to needy local veterans and their families, widows and orphans.

Thank you all very much for your continuing generous support of this wonderful program. God Bless America!

William M. “Bill Sisco” Commander, North Beach VFW Post 8956
