“RENT” comes to the Bishop Center


Bishop Center presents “RENT”

“525,600 minutes…how do you measure the year in a life?”

The smash Broadway hit “RENT” comes to the Bishop Center stage for four performances July 18, 19, 20 and 21. Grays Harbor College’s Summer Musical production is sponsored by Ingram Zelasko Goodwin law firm and the Marian J. Weatherwax Endowment. Shows are slated for 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, Friday and Saturday, July 18, 19 and 20, with a 2 p.m. matinee on Sunday, July 21. Because of adult language and situations, this rock musical is not suitable for young children.

The energetic cast, directed by Brad Duffy, includes Aaron Carney, Michael Wheeler, Colton Sundstrom, Quentin Sotomish, Taylor Sundstrom, Dustyn Moir, Libby Carrico and Lauren Ingersoll. The Ensemble performers are Tonya Hornback, Stephanie Hornback, Chelsea McLean, Jennie Kline, Julayne Fleury, Rebecca Meacham, Cora Foss, Cris Fruto, Michael Amendola, Kyle Brewer, Brett Cooper and Devan Bland.

With music and lyrics by the late Jonathan Larson, “RENT” is based on Giacomo Puccini’s opera La Bohème. It tells the story of a group of impoverished young artists and musicians struggling to survive and create in New York, under the shadow of HIV/AIDS.
