7th Street Kids perform Shrek the Musical

Townspeople! Throw down your torches and pitchforks, embrace your inner ogre, and trek to the 7th Street Theatre to see Shrek the Musical. This Broadway musical is based on the Oscar-winning DreamWorks movie and the book by William Steig. It has only recently been released for amateur productions in June 2013, so the 7th Street Kids production will be one of the first!

For those who are not familiar with the story – Shrek is an ogre who was abandoned by his parents at the tender age of seven, as all traditional ogres are. He escaped from the townspeople (and their torches and pitchforks) and has made a comfortable home for himself in the swamp. He is content until a perfectionist with serious control issues, Lord Farquaad, banishes all of the non-conforming Fairy Tale Creatures from his city to Shrek’s swamp. Shrek and his annoying but faithful companion, Donkey, are compelled to go on a journey to regain the swamp, rescue a princess, and help the Fairy Tale Creatures get an “ever after”. On their way, Shrek discovers the value of friendship and each meets his own true love. Will they also find their own happy ending?

The 7th Street Kids (age 7-16) have been presenting outstanding musical productions at the 7th Street Theatre since 1992. We expect a sell-out show with this year’s performance, so be sure to get your tickets soon!

July 26 to 27 at 7:30 p.m.

July 28 at 2 p.m.

Tickets are $5 for 12 & under, $8 for student and seniors and $12 for adult.

Tickets are available at Harbor Drug, Rosevear’s Music, Brown Paper Tickets and one hour before each performance
