Driftwood announces 2013-2014 season

The Driftwood Players of Aberdeen have announced their 2013-2014 season schedule.

The season opens in September with “The Rocky Horror Show,” made famous by the 1970’s motion picture, from Sept. 14 through Oct. 6, including a midnight performance on Sept. 28 in addition to that night’s regularly scheduled show.

For the holidays, “A 1940’s Radio Christmas Carol” begins on Nov. 23 and runs through Dec. 15.

After the New Year,“Full Frontal Nudity,” a Jerry Rabushka comedy about a community theater trying to bring in larger audiences with wild rumors, begins on Valentines Day 2014 and runs through March 2.

The Tennessee Williams classic “The Glass Menagerie” opens April 26, 2014, and runs through May 18.

The season concludes with “Loss, Love and What I Wore,” a series of monologues on women’s relationships, wardrobes and, at times, the interaction of the two, begins on July 11, 2014, and runs through July 26.

May’s photography at Six Rivers Gallery

Six Rivers Gallery in Hoquiam, operated by Harbor Art Guild, is featuring the work of award-winning photographer Stuart May from July 5 through Aug. 4. Owner of Fusions Gallery in Ocean Shores, Stuart May creates photographs of birds, old-growth forests, and ocean beaches that are breathtaking. Large canvas prints are Stuart’s specialty. Some of his work is done in film and silver gelatin printing, but most of his work is now digital photography processes.

Born in Glasgow Scotland, Stuart is a board member of Associated Arts of Ocean Shores . His snowy owl photo is featured on the cover of the 2013 Grays Harbor County Visitors Guide book.

Opening reception for Stuart May’s show will be Saturday, July 13, from 4 to 8 p.m. at Six Rivers Gallery, 210 Sixth St. (next to Levee Lumber). Gallery hours are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday and Saturday and 1 to 5 p.m. Sunday.


“Shakespeare — abridged” opening

Three actors bring 37 of William Shakespeare’s plays to life in just 97 minutes. Pop culture, history and good intentions collide to provide an evening of Shakespeare that is neither dry nor boring. Fast-paced, witty and physical, it’s full of laughter for Shakespeare lovers and haters alike.

Directed by Steven Puvogel, performance dates are:

• Friday, Saturday: July 5, 6

• Friday, Saturday: July 12, 13

• Friday, Saturday: July 19, 20

• Friday, Saturday: July 26, 27

Curtain time for all shows is 7:30 p.m. There is no Sunday matinee for this production.
