“The Blues Brothers” film at 7th St.

In 1979, director John Landis was being celebrated as the new movie genius behind the surprise smash hit “Animal House,” which featured “Saturday Night Live” star John Belushi. Along with his SNL pal Dan Aykroyd, Belushi was about to add multi-platinum recording artist to his red-hot resume with a little project that wouldn’t stop growing, called The Blues Brothers.

The collaboration that followed produced “The Blues Brothers” movie, an overpowered musical-comedy-buddy-road-chase-car-crash movie that is the next film at Grays Harbor’s historic 7th St. Theatre at 7:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday.

The movie also affectionately remembers classic soul music from the 1960s, not only with several songs covered by the Blues Brothers band, but with performances by legends James Brown, Ray Charles, Aretha Franklin and Cab Calloway.

Doors open at 7 p.m. for the 7:30 p.m. showings. Tickets are $5 and will be available at the door. Advance tickets are available at Harbor Drug and at www.brownpapertickets.com. For more information call (360) 537-7400 or check the website — www.7thstreettheatre.com.
