The 7th Street Kids will present “Shrek the Musical” at Hoquiam’s 7th St. Theatre on July 26, 27 and 28.
“Shrek the Musical” is based on the Oscar-winning Dreamworks movie, “Shrek,” and has just recently been released for amateur productions.
Shrek is an ogre who, through many hilarious experiences with his friend Donkey, comes to find true love despite his less-than-polite ogre habits.
Along the way, they save many fairytale creatures — including Gingy the Gingerbread Man, Pinocchio and the Three Little Pigs — from the devious perfectionist, Lord Farquaad.
Adam Cooper plays the role of Shrek, Princess Fiona is played by Kendall Cavin, Tigre Falla is Donkey and the villainous Lord Farquaad is brought to life by Gordon Shaw. Approximately 50 other kids take the stage in supporting parts.
There will be an evening performance at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, July 26, and Saturday, July 27, and a matinee at 2 p.m. on Sunday, July 28.
Tickets are $12 for adults, $8 for students and senior citizens, and $5 for children 12 and under.
Tickets can be purchased at Rosevear’s Music, Harbor Drug, brownpaperticket.com or at the box office one hour before each performance.
Since Micki Colwell created the 7th Street Kids in 1992, over 600 children have enjoyed learning what goes into putting on a musical.
