Former Harborite Senior Master Sgt. Sharon L. Eikman recently retired after serving in the U.S. Air Force for 32 years. She is a 1979 graduate of Hoquiam High School and the daughter of Patricia and Robert Muhlhauser of Hoquiam.
She began her military career in the Delayed Enlistment Program on May 1, 1981, and upon completion of basic training was assigned to Aberdeen Proving Grounds in Maryland. She was assigned to Lackland Air Force Base in Texas and, while serving there, twice earned the Airman of the Year award. While attending Open Mess Management School at Keesler Air Force Base in Mississippi, she met her future husband, Tech Sgt. LaMar Eikman.
Eikman was released from active duty Aug. 14, 1990, and entered the Air Force Reserves the following day and transferred to Little Rock Air Force Base in Arkansas.
She currently resides in San Antonio, Texas, close to her son and grandson, Kevin and Noah Eikman.
