A Grays Harbor women’s club is celebrating more than half a century of meeting with one another this coming Thursday.
Originally started by Stonecroft ministries — an organization that begin in the 1930s — in the 1960s, the group now known as the Grays Harbor Christian Women’s Connection is attended by more than 70 people at most of their monthly meetings, said member Jeanie Logston who has attended meetings since the 1970s.
“We’ve truly become like sisters,” she said, adding that women come from all over the Grays Harbor area and of all denominations. “I’ve become so close with women I never could have met before.”
Currently the meetings are held at the Aberdeen Log Pavilion, where a full meal is catered and the women listen to different speakers and presentations, as well as live music.
Thursday’s program begins at 11:30 a.m. and has an all-inclusive cost of $14. The special feature of the meeting will be “reflections and rememberings” from members, as well as music by Roberta Cleland and Linda Brooks and a special guest presentation by Stonecroft Regional Administrator Victoria LaMar of Lake Stevens.
The meetings require reservations as well as cancellations, and those interested in attending at advised to call Jeanette at (360) 532-7998 or Joan at (360) 249-1900. Complimentary daycare for children 1 to 12 years old is provided by reservation only.
