Entrance fees waived for parks volunteer effort Sept. 29

For one day only, the Olympic National Park, along with other National Park Service areas, will waive entrance fees. On Sept. 29, the fees are being waived as part of the National Public Lands Day celebration. The celebration also includes what the Park Service characterizes as the largest annual volunteer event nationwide at the parks. On Sept.29, more than 170,000 volunteers are expected to show up at parks and protected sites across the country. The effort at Olympic National Park will concentrate on cleaning up the coastline. Advance registration is required for the clean up at www.coastsavers.org. For more information: http://www.nps.gov/olym.
