There will be a day-trip excursion on Sept. 17 to a “Rainforest Rendezvous” at Lake Quinault, hosted by Grays Harbor College’s Continuing Education program. Participants will travel around the rainforest of Lake Quinualt with transportation, snacks, lunch and a guide provided.
They will make the 31-mile Quinault Rain Forest Loop drive around Lake Quinault, up the Quinault River into the Onlympic National Park, and back around the other side. Stops will be made at Kestler Homestead, the grounds that Anton Kestner claimed in 1889 under the Homestead Act, and the Lake Quinault Museum, which is the Old Quinault Post Office that is currently undergoing a complete renovation.
