It’s a SNAP to help local students

SNAP, Coastal Community Action Program’s plan to assist low-income children in the area with back to school supplies, is underway.

Last year SNAP, which stands for Student Needs Assistance Program, sent over local 2,100 children back to school with new pencils, paper, pens, crayons, markers, binders and more.

Each $10 donation will help one child and CCAP’s goal this year is $25,000.

Several local banks are helping out by selling $1 SNAP apples. Participants include Bank of the Pacific in Raymond, Ocean Shores, Hoquiam and Aberdeen, Timberland Banks throughout Grays Harbor County, Elma Sterling Bank as well as Frames and Things in Aberdeen.

At Northwest Federal Credit Union in Aberdeen those wishing to donate may feed a parking meter with their coins or deposit donations in the drop box.

Tax deductible donations may be sent directly to CCAP, 117 E. Third St., Aberdeen, 98520.
