Mayor Simpson offers public meetings

Aberdeen Mayor Bill Simpson, in response to citizen complaints about a variety of problems, including vagrancy, syringes discarded by drug addicts, drug-related crime and vandalism, has scheduled four public meetings around the city to talk about whatever it is citizens are concerned about. A similar set of meetings was held last year.

The meetings each start at 6:30 p.m. and will be held at the following elementary schools:

Oct. 28 — Stevens at 301 S. Farragut St.
Oct. 29 — A. J. West at 1801 Bay Ave.
Nov. 4 — Robert Gray at 1516 N. B St.
Nov. 8 — McDermoth, 401 N. K St.
A summit style meeting will be scheduled for early in 2014 about how to move forward, said the mayor and former city council member Jack Micheau, who has been urging action on Facebook.
