SMILES FOR LIFE: New Affordable Preventive Oral Health Program is here in Aberdeen, known as the Senior Center Dental Access Program. This new program gives you tips on how to keep your teeth for a lifetime. Future Clinics will usually be the first & third Thurs. of the month. The services provided are Dental Assessment (including oral cancer screening), Dental Cleanings (routine and periodontal), Fluoride Applications, Oral Health Education and Referrals to Dental and Medical Providers. COMMUNITY EDUCATION OUTREACH: O3A Nursing Services provides Community Education Outreach to seniors and people with disabilities through Medication Solutions presentations. These presentations include subject matter on ways to manage prescription medications, over-the-counter drugs, and herbs safely and wisely, and how to communicate with your doctor and health care team. The next presentation will be held on Thursday, Oct. 17, from 12:30 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the Church of God, 317 Spruce in Montesano. The subject of this class will be “Talking With Your Health Care Providers”. FAMILY CAREGIVER SUPPORT GROUP: The Family Caregiver Support Group is for any family caregiver of a disabled or elder adult, welcoming caregivers to share, obtain support and realize they are not alone in their caregiver journey. They meet the third Friday of the month at the Hoquiam Timberland Library, downstairs meeting room. The next meeting is scheduled for Friday,Oct.18th from 2 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. Questions? GRAYS HARBOR P.U.D. DISCOUNT PROGRAM: The P.U.D. has designed a discount program to assist Senior and Disabled Citizens with their energy costs. If you are 62 years of age or disabled and meet certain income guidelines, you may qualify for reduced electricity bills. Contact the P.U.D. SHIBA: Open enrollment for Medicare prescription drug plans begin October 15th. Now is the time to ensure your prescription drug coverage for 2014 is the best available option. During the first phase of this Medicare Part D enrollment period, a Statewide Health Insurance Benefits Advisor will be available at the North Beach Senior Resource Center (Ocean Shores United Methodist Church), 557 Point Brown Ave. NW, on Thursday, Oct. 17, 24 and 31 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. to assist you and answer any questions you may have. Statewide Health Insurance Benefits Advisors are available to answer your health care coverage needs. If you have questions about insurance paperwork – billing, coverage, costs, and benefits – we can help. We can provide you with options for your Medicare health insurance options, whether they be supplemental insurances, Medicare advantage plans, or DSHS programs that help defer these costs. Are you concerned you may have been the victim of fraud, pressured or tricked into making a harmful decision? Would you like information confirming or disputing the marketing claims of insurance agents? A free service, SHIBA (Statewide Health Insurance Benefits Advisors) can help in all these areas and more. HOME CARE REFERRAL REGISTRY: The Home Care Referral Registry serves consumers/clients receiving in-home care services through the Department of Social and Health Services or those on the COPES (Community Options Program Entry System) program. They are also helping clients receiving services through the Division of Developmental Disabilities find the right Individual Provider. The Referral Registry matches pre-qualified, pre-screened, individual providers with Medicaid eligible clients who need in-home care services.
