Trollers will meet March 17 to discuss ocean options

The Washington Trollers Association is inviting all persons interested in salmon trolling off of the Washington Coast to a port meeting at 7 p.m., Sunday, March 17 at the Westport Ferry Office (located behind the Westport Fuel Office) to discuss proposed fishing regulations for Washington salmon trollers.

On March 11, the Pacific Fisheries Management Council, the primary regulatory body for Pacific Coast fisheries, proposed three options for the commercial troll salmon fishery off of the Coast of Washington and those will be discussed at the meeting.

The Trollers Association also reminds the public that a hearing is scheduled in Westport before PFMC Council Members on March 25 to receive public comments on the proposed options for the 2013 ocean salmon troll and recreational season. The hearing is scheduled for 7 p.m. at the Chateau Westport.
