HUBZone training

event is May 8

The U.S. Small Business Administration is conducting a free HUBZone education and training event from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Tuesday, May 8, at the Satsop Business Park cafeteria, 150 Technology Way in Elma.

This free session is designed for small businesses considering HUBZone certification or looking for more information on the HUBZone program. Local small business resource providers from Southwest Washington will also be in attendance such as Washington State SBDC, Greater Grays Harbor Inc., and Washington State PTAC.

Every year, the federal government awards more than $500 billion in contracts, and a significant share of those contracts are specifically allotted to small businesses. SBA works with federal agencies to assist them in identifying and awarding contracts in order to meet the 23 percent statutory goal of government-wide small business prime contracting.

Interested parties may register at: http://events.sba.gov/eventmanagement/eventlisting.aspx?state=WA. For more information, contact Julie McFarlane, SBA Hubzone liaison, at ( 206) 553-7342 or at julie.mcfarlane@sba.gov.
