ROCHESTER — Lucky Eagle Casino & Hotel was named the Olympia Downtown Association’s Business of the Year for 2012 at a ceremony held on Jan. 28 at Capital Playhouse in downtown Olympia.
This award is given each year to a business that has made a significant contribution to the Olympia Downtown Association’s mission, which is to preserve, promote and enhance the downtown Olympia community.
“This award is particularly significant because we are located 15 miles from Olympia,” Rodney Youckton, vice president of administration & community development said. “It is a testament to the commitment the Chehalis Tribe and Lucky Eagle Casino has to giving back to our community.”
Lucky Eagle was selected for the award because of the many contributions, donations and sponsorships the casino and Chehalis Tribe has made to downtown Olympia businesses, especially to the nonprofits that serve the area, said Kim Combs, event and volunteer coordinator for the Olympia Downtown Association.
One example Combs cited is the casino’s sponsorship of the annual Downtown Fall Ball fundraiser. The casino caters and provides all the food for the event.
“Lucky Eagle has been beyond supportive,” she said. “We think it’s commendable to see that kind of support, especially from an organization that is outside of downtown Olympia.”
Lucky Eagle Chief Executive Officer John Setterstrom accepted the award on behalf of the casino and Chehalis Tribe.
“This award belongs to all of our associates,” Setterstrom said. “It is truly our associates that earned this recognition for Lucky Eagle by supporting and being involved in numerous organizations within our local communities.”
