‘Out of the Box’ art show and premium boxed wine tasting today

This year’s seventh Annual “Out of the Box” Art Show & Wine Tasting event will be held at the Tradewinds on the Bay Conference Center in Tokeland today. The center is located a quarter-mile south of the Tokeland Post Office off Tokeland Road.

Benefiting the Ocosta High School art program, the event features a free show of works by local artists starting at 2 p.m., with a premium box wines tasting & finger foods event for adults from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tickets for the wine tasting are $12 at the door.

Your ticket purchases a wineglass etched with a unique “Out of the Box” Tokeland logo on one side, and a student-designed logo created by Ocosta High School student Danielle Williams on the other.

Premium box wines

Participants will receive three tastes and one glass of any of the five wines offered. Additional glasses of wine may be purchased for $3 each.

The wines represented will be premium box wines, hence the name, ‘Out of the Box.’ Box wines are fast becoming known for their many exciting and startling attributes, and are a favorite choice for many. These wines stay fresh longer and are easier to pack for travel, with the flavor standing up well when compared to bottled wines.

Music and auction

Live entertainment will be provided by an ensemble of the Grays Harbor banjo band, headlining Captain Pete Darrah.

Ocosta High School art teacher Don Watkins will once again conduct the live auction in the early evening. Auction items have been donated by local artists.

Featured artists

Featured artists at the event will include Marcy Merrill — Wet plate Collodion), Judith Altruda — Organic Jewelry, Brad Saunders and Emily Maldonado — glass Bead art, Kimmi Kerns — ceramics, Barbara Sampson — watercolor, Ron and Bonnie Arel — coastal photography, Senja Atilla — Washaway Beach art, and Vance Balter – artisan carvings.

In addition, some not able to participate have generously donated items to the auction.

Mark your calendar and make it a point to attend this fun-filled afternoon and evening in support of the Ocosta High School art program.
