Nearly $5,000 in county lodging tax funds will come back to Schafer and Lake Sylvia state parks in the form of grants from Mason and Grays Harbor counties.
The Friends of Schafer and Lake Sylvia hope to use the funds for highway historical marker signs for Schafer Park, and advertising for the fall festival at Lake Sylvia.
The grants come from the county lodging tax funds, which state parks pay. Over two years, Schafer Park paid almost $2,000 to Mason County, and Lake Sylvia paid $$3,700 to Grays Harbor County. The parks will now receive $2,400 and $2,500 respectively from the grants.
“We are very grateful to Mason and Grays Harbor counties for awarding us these grants,” said Friends group volunteer Trina Young. “We hope that our efforts will help a little.”
