Aberdeen Police are on the lookout for a man suspected of attempting at least one armed robbery, officials said Wednesday in a press release.
On Tuesday at about 2:30 a.m., Aberdeen police officers responded to a call about a man who entered a home on the 1500 Block of Cherry St. with a firearm and demanded money from the female resident inside. While inside the home, the man grabbed the woman’s purse and started to leave her bedroom. The woman began fighting the man and was able to wrestle her purse away from him. The suspect fled the residence and the victim yelled for help from other family members inside the home.
As the man fled from the residence, he ran into a male family member who was outside and had heard the commotion. As the two men ran into each other, the suspect pointed the gun at the man and demanded his wallet. The man declined to hand over his wallet and the suspect jumped a fence and ran away. Aberdeen police searched the area for the man with a canine team without success.
Police described as being a white male, about 20 years old, who is 5 feet 1 inches tall with a thin build. He had collar length hair and was wearing dark clothing with a hat and scarf.
Anyone with information regarding this case is asked to contact the Aberdeen Police Department at (360) 533-3180.
