A man suspected of breaking into a rural fire station and stealing fire rescue equipment has been arrested and the equipment recovered, the Grays Harbor Sheriff’s Department said Monday.
The 39-year-old Ocean Shores man was arrested early Saturday morning and booked into the county jail on a charge of burglary. He was also booked on charges of possession of stolen property from an unrelated investigation by the Ocean Shores Police Department.
The burglary happened Oct. 25 at Fire District 16 Station 82 on Powell Road in Hoquiam. Numerous items were taken, including communications gear and turnout gear. The Sheriff’s Office was able to pursue leads and make the arrest by working with the Ocean Shores Police Department. Detectives are seeking a second suspect in the case.
