Annual Harbor dredging starts

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers has begun annual maintenance dredging of Grays Harbor, which started Thursday and will continue through Feb. 14.

The Corps will remove approximately 1 million cubic yards of material from the inner Harbor extending through to the middle of the Harbor, according to a press release.

The Corps’ Seattle District awarded the $4.2 million dredging contract to American Construction Co. Inc. of Tacoma. Annual dredging is required to allow ships to enter and leave safely under full load or during low tide.
