Hoquiam Police received a report of another cougar sighting in the city this morning, this one under a porch of a house on the 300 block of Garfield Street.
The cougar was seen at about 3 a.m. today, and was apparently chasing a raccoon. The raccoon fled onto the porch and reportedly refused to leave with the cougar stalking it. Both animals were gone when officers arrived.
The state Department of Fish and Wildlife was again notified. A small cougar was seen about a week ago in the 200 block of Endresen Road, and two more were spotted June 4 in the 400 block of Chenault Avenue. The pair was seen eating a raccoon, but so far there hasn’t been any reported interaction between the wild animals and people or domestic animals.
