All hands on deck. The Seaport Landing is still calling for volunteers to get the site in ship shape for the July 3 arrival of the Lady Washington and Hawaiian Chieftain.
Work parties clean the site, mow, clear brush and scotch broom, and conduct light maintenance on Saturdays in June from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Wear work clothes and bring cleaning and gardening tools, organizers say.
Capt. Les Bolton says about 30 people turn up each Saturday so far. Several citizens and companies have also volunteered time during the rest of the week to help spruce up the site.
Volunteers should come to 500 N. Custer Street.
The next work party is today. To become a team leader, call or email project manager Roxie Underwood, 800-200-5239, email@example.com.
