APD uses taser to subdue man at police station

Aberdeen police officers tased a Cosmopolis man who had been arrested for obstructing an officer, after the man arrived at the city jail and allegedly demanded that police officers find a specific inmate and bring him out so the two could talk, police said.

The incident happened Tuesday at 11:06 a.m., police said, when the man drove into the department’s police vehicle parking lot near the entrance to the jail, honked his horn repeatedly and told officers he needed to talk to the inmate in the jail for emergency reasons, police said.

The man, a 26-year-old from Cosmopolis, declined to say what the emergency was. He allegedly told police he had a knife.

The man was arrested for obstructing a law enforcement officer. When officers were taking him to the jail, the man got out of his restraints and police tased him. Medics from the Aberdeen Fire Department had to come to remove the Taser darts from the man. He was then booked without further incident.
