NASHVILLE,Tenn. — Kelly Barr from Hoquiam High School has been selected to sing as a member of the 2013 All-National Honor Mixed Chorus sponsored by the National Association for Music Education. Kelly will join more than 670 of the most musically talented and skilled high school students in the United States to perform at a gala concert on Oct. 30, in Nashville.
These exceptional students will prepare remarkably challenging music that they will perform under the baton of four of the most prominent conductors in the United States: Dr. Peter Boonshaft, Miriam Burns, Rollo Dilworth, and Rodney Whitaker.
“Kelly is an exceptionally gifted musician and is extremely excited for the opportunity to represent our community, region and state at this event,” said Carolyn Greer, HHS Choir Director. “Her parents, Jon and Katie Barr, co-choir members, and the students and staff at Hoquiam High School are equally pleased and excited at the news. Upon receipt of the news she was honored with a plaque by Superintendent Mike Parker and the HHS School Board. It is an opportunity of a lifetime, and one that she will not soon forget.”
