A mixed flock of bird watchers and Cosmopolis Elementary School students take a look at a flock of shorebirds at the Grays Harbor National Wildlife Refuge in Hoquiam Friday. School groups have been visiting the refuge throughout the week in hopes of catching a glimpse of the migrating birds.
The Grays Harbor Shorebird Festival kicked off on Friday as the sun peeked through the clouds, offering clear views of the thousands of birds that stop on the Harbor as part of their yearly migration. The shorebird festival continues throughout the weekend with guided walks, lectures, trips and more.
