Calls to police help end pursuit

A 23-year-old Hoquiam man has been arrested after leading police on a pursuit through Hoquiam and Aberdeen on Sunday, ending in a foot chase with phone reports from neighbors leading the way.

At about 3:20 p.m., a Hoquiam Police officer tried to stop a sedan for a traffic violation but the driver refused to stop. Aberdeen Police officers assisted in the chase, although police backed off when the driver turned the wrong way onto Simpson Avenue.

The vehicle was found shortly thereafter abandoned, parked on a curb in the Port Industrial area. Residents quickly called police to report the suspect’s location. He was located in the 2000 block of Morgan Street and booked into the Hoquiam City Jail for outstanding warrants.
