Dog distraction leads to collision

A woman driving in the 2700 block of Sumner Avenue Friday morning struck a parked van after the family dog jumped into her lap, the Hoquiam Police Department reported.

The 21-year-old Hoquiam resident was trying to move the dog when she swerved to the right and struck the van.

She suffered facial injuries and was transported to Grays Harbor Community Hospital by the Hoquiam Fire Department. The infant in the back seat was not injured.

The dog ran away after the collision, but was quickly recovered.

The scene blocked traffic until the car was towed away.
