Event to celebrate Pioneer of the Year Jack Shrauger today at 2

The Polson Museum will host a reception honoring Jack Shrauger, this year’s Pioneer of the Year, today at 2 p.m. in the Washington Elementary School gymnasium. As part of his 30-year career as a Hoquiam educator, Shrauger helped design the elementary school. The 87-year-old currently spends his time volunteering at the Hoquiam Food Bank and helping Alzheimer’s patients at Westhaven Villa. He’s also an avid gardener and responsible for the beautiful flowers growing outside of some local businesses. Members of the public are welcome at the event.
