A two-story home was damaged in a two-alarm fire in east Aberdeen early Wednesday morning, but the home appeared to be unoccupied and no one was injured, Aberdeen battalion captain Bill Mayne said.
When firefighters arrived on the 900 block of East First Street, the structure was filled with smoke, and flames were visible on the first floor. Firefighters forced their way in to search and found no one inside. The first call to firefighters came about 12:30 a.m. and the fire was under control by about 1:45 a.m. Mayne said.
Twenty-two Aberdeen firefighters and two Hoquiam firefighters worked on the fire.
The origin and cause of the fire is undetermined as of this morning. Fire officials estimated the property damage at about $41,000.
