Aberdeen Fire responded to a report of an explosion and fire in the 1300 block of West 2nd Street just after 11 p.m. on Monday. When firefighters arrived, they found burning debris in the back yard. The nearby residence was not threatened and did not appear to be damaged.
The fire was easily extinguished. There were no injuries on this response and there is no loss to report. Aberdeen Fire responded with eight firefighters, and two Hoquiam firefighters also responded.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
This is the second fire that has occurred in the same neighborhood, in a similar fashion, in the last 12 days. The Aberdeen Fire Department urges all city residents to secure their out buildings and to keep as little combustible material in their yard as possible.
