Colin Moseley, chairman of the board of Green Diamond Resource Company, on Wednesday announced the retirement of the company’s president, Bill Brown, effective Dec. 31. Douglas Reed, currently senior vice president of the company’s California Operations, will become president Jan.
Brown has served as president of Green Diamond since 2006. Before that he served as executive vice president and chief financial officer of Plum Creek Timber Company. “Bill skillfully led the company during a very difficult recession with profound challenges for the company and the forest products industry,” said Moseley. “We are grateful for his dedication and stewardship over the past seven years,” continued Moseley.
Reed joined Green Diamond in February 2012. Before that he held the position of vice president and general manager, Simpson Lumber Company, LLC and he served as strategic planning manager, Simpson Door Company from 2006 to 2008. Simpson and Green Diamond are affiliated companies. Reed graduated from Princeton University in 1998, receiving a BA in History.
He earned his MBA at Stanford University in 2004.
“Douglas brings strong operational and managerial skills to this position, and we look forward to his continued leadership as we move thorough this important transition,” said Moseley.
Green Diamond Resource Company is a privately held forest products company that owns and manages working forest lands in Washington and California.
