WASHINGTON, D.C. — Congresswoman Jaime Herrera Beutler says she’s been asked to serve on the U.S. House Appropriations Committee and will have direct influence on spending bills in Congress.
The Republican from Camas was recently re-elected to her second term for the 3rd Congressional District, which includes all of Pacific County and stretches to include Lewis County and the Vancouver area. The new committee assignment means she’ll give up her posts on the House Small Business and Transportation and Infrastructure committees.
“Serving on the Appropriations Committee will put me in a great position to continue serving the families and communities of Southwest Washington,” Herrera Beutler said in a press release. “I’ll work to make sure that important Southwest Washington priorities are adequately funded — but I will also be looking to save taxpayer dollars wherever possible. From this committee, I can make sure federal agencies are being accountable to citizens, help curb excess and job-harming federal regulations, and ensure we’re spending at a responsible level that allows our economy to recover.”
