Highway 101 just south of Shelton was blocked for more than four hours Thursday after a Washington State Patrol trooper’s car was struck by another driver.
Trooper Joshua Merritt, 31, was parked in his patrol vehicle in the shoulder of the southbound lane of Highway 101 near Cloquallum Road at about 7:25 a.m. Thursday. He turned on his lights and sirens and pulled onto the highway, heading south, where he was struck by a southbound pickup truck driven by Daniel Robinson, 27, of Shelton.
Robinson’s car then crossed the center line, striking Jessyca Cuzick, 40, also of Shelton.
Robinson and Cuzick were both injured and brought to Mason General Hospital, where they were treated and released. Robinson was not wearing a seat belt.
