Ill-advised turn results in car crash

A pickup truck turning from the wrong lane ended up smashing into another truck and kept going until it took out a fence on the 700 block of West 2nd Street in Aberdeen Saturday afternoon.

The driver, who is from California, was cited for unlawful left turn, driving without insurance and driving without a license, according to a report from the Aberdeen Police Department. Nobody was hurt seriously in the accident. All drivers were wearing seat belts.

The accident happened shortly after 1 p.m. on Saturday. The pickup was on Alder turning onto West 2nd Street from the wrong lane when the truck hit the other pickup’s door and continued to punch through the intersection into the nearby fence on the other side of the street. The door crunched through to the steering wheel column, although the other driver made it out safely without any major injuries, police said.
