The Salvation Army will hold its annual “Kettle Klash” luncheon tomorrow to kick off this year’s annual Christmas Kettle Drive.
The Kettle Klash starts at noon Friday at the Harbor City Church at the corner of Scammel and Cherry Street. The familiar Kettle Drive, in which volunteers stand outside area businesses and ring a bell to drum up donations, starts on Nov. 23.
Tickets to the luncheon event tomorrow are $13. During the event, “Kettle Captains” representing service clubs, churches, businesses and corporate sponsors will be introduced and then they will circulate through the luncheon ringing bells and soliciting donations. Music will be provided by The Salvation Army Northwest Brass Band and the “Livin’ Harmony Quartet” of Grays Harbor.
Jill Berney and her Holiday Belles have won the event for the past four years, collecting the most in donations at the luncheon. The Salvation Army is a charity that helps people with basic needs such as food or clothing. Last year more than $19,000 was raised during the Kettle Klash event.
