Lengthy foot pursuit ends in arrest

A 42-year-old Aberdeen man fled from police in Downtown Aberdeen, resulting in a foot pursuit on Friday. The man was arrested with a small amount of suspected heroin in his pants pocket.

At 2:18 p.m., the man was having a verbal spat with a woman while sitting in their car on the 100 Block of West Wishkah. An officer approached the scene because the car was blocking traffic and was looking into a possible domestic situation.

The man was found to have a felony warrant for his arrest from drug arrest and he jumped out of the passenger side of his convertible car in the area of Wishkah and Broadway, according to a press memo from the police.

The officer chased the man along the streets, sidewalks and parking lots and soon other officers from Aberdeen and Hoquiam, along with an Aberdeen Corrections officer, pursued the man.

The man was taken into custody at about 2:30 p.m. A K-9 Officer from the Chehalis Tribal Police Department aided the officers in looking for any drugs along the chase route.

The man was arrested for the felony arrest warrant, resisting arrest and possession of heroin and was booked into the Aberdeen jail.
