Deputies with the Grays Harbor Sheriff’s Office arrested a group of teens for allegedly going into mailboxes in the Central Park area and stealing Christmas cards, according to a department press release.
Officials said the three teen males, ages 16, 14 and 13, were stealing the cards for any money they had inside. The Sheriff’s Office received numerous complaints about mail thefts on Sunday. They were able to make an arrest after a Central Park resident reported a burglary at their house the same day. The residents of the home told officials they thought a former foster child, the 16-year-old, was responsible for the burglary. Investigators tracked evidence from the burglary and the mail thefts to a house on Solki Road, where they found the teens, the press release said. According to the Sheriff’s Office, all three juveniles admitted to the crimes. The 13- and 14-year-old teens were released to their guardians pending further investigation. The 16-year-old was transported to the Juvenile Center in Junction City and placed into custody. Detectives are investigating to see if the teens were involved in any other crimes in Central Park.
