An altercation outside McCleary on Monday night led to a man being struck in the face with a hatchet, the Grays Harbor Sheriff’s Office reported.
At about 7 p.m. Monday, deputies responded to the attack on the 1000 block of Mox Chehalis Road near McCleary and found a 64-year-old man had been struck in the face with an ax. The reportedly unprovoked attack led to the man being trasported to Mark Reed Hospital in McCleary. His injuries were not believed to be critical.
The suspect, a 37-year-old man who had been living at the victim’s residence for the past month after moving from Milton, was located and arrested for second-degree domestic violence assault. It is believed he may have been under the influence of drugs.
