Mayor Bill Simpson proclaimed the entire week of Sept. 15-21 as “Aberdeen Weatherwax High School Class of 1963 Week” to honor their 50th reunion, at the Aberdeen City Council meeting Wednesday night.

The proclamation states that “the Class of 1963 had lived up to its class motto of ‘Achieve Glory in Academics, Athletics and Citizenship,’ and the claim emblazoned on its class pin, ‘A solid foundation for my success.’ “

It goes on to point out that due to the “many highly recognized politicians, academic scholars, All-American athletes, professional (and semi-professional) golfers, professional entertainers, Nobel Laureates, military dignitaries, musicians, scientists, international business owners, and other distinguished members of the Class of 1963 that a few hours in one evening is simply not enough time to recognize them all properly.”

The reunion will be held at the Aberdeen Elks Club on Saturday, Sept. 21.
