Mayors of Aberdeen, Westport and Cosmopolis endorse Kilmer to succeed Norm Dicks

State Sen. Derek Kilmer has received the endorsements of Mayor Bill Simpson of Aberdeen, Mayor Vickie Raines of Cosmopolis, and Westport Mayor Michael Bruce in his campaign to succeed Norm Dicks as the representative of the 6th Congressional District.

“The number one issue in Aberdeen is creating family-wage jobs, and that is Derek Kilmer’s expertise,” said Simpson. “That’s what he went to school to learn how to do; that’s what he does professionally for the Economic Development Board of Tacoma-Pierce County; and that’s been the focus of his service in the state Senate. Derek is the candidate for job creation, and that makes him the candidate for Aberdeen.”

Simpson, Raines and Bruce join Dicks, Sen. Patty Murray, former state House Majority Leader Lynn Kessler, state Sen. Brian Hatfield, state Rep. Brian Blake and state Rep. Dean Takko in endorsing Kilmer.

Additionally, the Grays Harbor County Democrats voted unanimously to endorse Kilmer at their regular monthly meeting on May 3 at the Polish Hall in Aberdeen. The Grays Harbor Democrats join the Democratic parties of Clallam, Jefferson, Kitsap, Mason and Pierce counties in endorsing Kilmer.

Kilmer has represented the Gig Harbor and the south Kitsap County area in the Legislature since 2005.
