Three candidates for the new head of the Timberland Regional Library District will introduce themselves to the community and field questions during a public forum Friday morning in Aberdeen.
From 10:30 a.m. to noon, the candidates will be at the Aberdeen Timberland Library, 121 E. Market St.
The candidates are Cheryl Heywood, the current interim public services manager at Timberland Regional Library; Ann Hammond, a library director from Kentucky; and Jeff Scott, a deputy director of a library system in Visalia, Calif.
The Timberland Library District Board of Trustees will interview the candidates Saturday during a closed-door executive session, according to the district’s communications staff.
The board has seven trustees and each county in the system — Grays Harbor, Pacific, Lewis, Mason and Thurston — are represented on the board. They are appointed by the county commissioners of the five-county region.
The library district serves about 475,000 residents across the region, has about 300 employees and a $20.2 million operating budget.
