The third annual Grays Harbor Outdoor Adventure & Travel Expo will open for a two-day run April 20 and 21 at the Grays Harbor Fairgrounds.
The Expo will feature popular TV personalities from the Discovery Channel series “Deadliest Catch,” Nick Mundt from Outdoor TV’s “Bone Collector” series plus Glen Hall of the popular outdoor fishing and hunting show “Hawg Quest.”
“Appearing will be two crew members, Edgar Hansen and Nick Mavar, of the MV Northwestern, from the ‘Deadliest Catch’ cable series,” said Rod Easton, fair and events supervisor. “In addition, The Great Bear Show, featuring five live black bears, will present daily educational demonstrations.”
At the Outdoor Adventure Expo, vendors and exhibitors will showcase the outdoor experiences, products and recreational destinations on Grays Harbor.
“Many local businesses throughout the county are highly involved in outdoor tourism,” said Fairgrounds and Tourism Director Mike Bruner. “Along with hunting and fishing guides and lodging providers, a wide range of vendors will participate in our annual event. This is a perfect opportunity for outdoor enthusiasts to learn what is available here.”
“I also think that residents of the South Sound and the Twin Harbors area will be surprised to find what they can explore and enjoy in their own backyard,” Bruner added. “Grays Harbor is home to some of the best hunting, fishing, clam digging, camping and hiking opportunities on the West Coast. This show is an opportunity for us to present the full spectrum to the public.”
Expo tickets are $8 for adults and $5 for youths age 6 to 13. Children 5 and under are free. The expo runs from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Sunday.
Children can try their luck at Cabela’s free kids fishing pond, marvel at the Northwest Record Head Mounts, trophy game display and snack on everything from beef jerky to festival specialties.
There will also be a free rod and reel prize-combo awarded to the first 10 kids through the door each day, as well as hourly door prizes, provided by Cabela’s. New this year will be the Horns and Hooks Outdoor Magazine and TV, “Horns and Antlers Competition”, where attendees can have their trophies scored and compete for prizes. Also new will be the vendor appreciation banquet Saturday night featuring live music by the popular local band “Humptulips.” Paid attendees over the age of 21 are welcome to attend.
The Outdoor Expo is an opportunity for businesses, charter operations and outfitters to showcase their local-area knowledge and expertise. Exhibitors will share space at the Grays Harbor County Fairgrounds Pavilion with live demonstrations, outdoor products and activity promotions. Outdoor Adventure & Travel Expo space reservations and exhibit/vendor applications can be made at the Grays Harbor County Fair & Exhibit Center by contacting Bruner or Easton at (360) 482-2651 or (800) 621-9625, or by emailing the fairgrounds at firstname.lastname@example.org or email@example.com.
