Public art dedication means short traffic detours Saturday

The dedication of “Breaker,” the sculpture at the newly named “Weatherwax Triangle” at Simpson and Park streets in Aberdeen, will cause some traffic detours Saturday from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.

As traffic comes off Hoquiam’s Simpson Avenue Bridge headed east to Aberdeen, signs will encourage traffic, especially semi trucks, to take the Port Dock Road into Aberdeen, according to Scott Olsen of the Aberdeen Public Works Department. From Myrtle to Thornton, Simpson Avenue will be restricted to local traffic only and after Thornton, the road will be closed completely.

Multiple reader boards and other signs will help drivers follow the detour routes.
