The State Patrol is still investigating what led up to a crash on State Route 109 yesterday involving a Quinault Indian Nation police vehicle and a pickup truck driven by a 52-year-old Hoquiam man.
A State Patrol report said the police vehicle, a 2011 Ford Expedition driven by a 43-year-old officer, had pulled to the right shoulder of the highway about three miles north of Moclips about 11:50 a.m. The officer activated emergency equipment and started to make a U-turn when the pickup track struck the police vehicle, the report said.
The pickup was a total loss, while the Expedition was towed from the scene, the patrol said. Neither driver reported any injuries, according to the report.
